Program Details

Our Mental Health Program offers comprehensive support through various therapeutic approaches.

Assessment & Diagnosis

Comprehensive mental health assessments conducted by licensed professionals to identify specific challenges and develop personalized treatment plans. We use evidence-based assessment tools and clinical interviews to ensure accurate diagnosis and appropriate care planning.

Individual Therapy

One-on-one sessions with licensed therapists using approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and other evidence-based modalities tailored to individual needs.

Group Therapy

Facilitated group sessions focusing on specific mental health challenges or therapeutic approaches. Groups provide valuable peer support, shared learning, and opportunities to practice new skills in a supportive environment.

Medication Management

Coordination with psychiatrists and healthcare providers for medication assessment, prescription, and ongoing monitoring when appropriate. We take a balanced approach to medication, viewing it as one potential tool within a comprehensive treatment plan.

Trauma-Informed Care

All of our mental health services are delivered with an understanding of the prevalence and impact of trauma. Our trauma-informed approach emphasizes safety, trustworthiness, choice, collaboration, and empowerment.

Crisis Support

Access to crisis intervention services and safety planning for individuals experiencing acute mental health challenges. We provide resources and support for managing mental health emergencies and connecting with appropriate emergency services when needed.

Our Therapeutic Approaches

We utilize evidence-based therapeutic modalities tailored to individual needs.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT helps identify and change negative thought patterns that influence emotions and behaviors. This structured approach focuses on developing practical strategies to improve mental health and address current challenges.

  • Identify and challenge negative thought patterns
  • Develop coping strategies for difficult situations
  • Learn problem-solving skills for everyday challenges
  • Set and work toward meaningful goals

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

DBT combines cognitive-behavioral techniques with mindfulness concepts, focusing on emotional regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness skills.

  • Develop skills to manage intense emotions
  • Improve relationships through effective communication
  • Build tolerance for distress and difficult situations
  • Practice mindfulness and present-moment awareness

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR is particularly effective for trauma-related conditions, helping the brain process traumatic memories in a way that reduces their emotional impact.

  • Process traumatic memories with reduced distress
  • Decrease symptoms of PTSD and trauma-related anxiety
  • Develop new perspectives on past experiences
  • Reduce the impact of triggers and flashbacks

Mindfulness-Based Therapies

These approaches incorporate mindfulness practices to help individuals develop awareness of thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations without judgment.

  • Cultivate present-moment awareness
  • Reduce rumination and worry
  • Develop a non-judgmental relationship with thoughts
  • Improve focus and attention

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy

This goal-directed approach focuses on solutions rather than problems, helping clients identify and build on their strengths and resources.

  • Focus on concrete, achievable goals
  • Identify and utilize existing strengths and resources
  • Develop a vision for a preferred future
  • Create practical steps toward positive change

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

ACT helps individuals accept difficult thoughts and feelings while committing to behaviors that align with personal values and goals.

  • Develop psychological flexibility
  • Clarify personal values and meaningful life directions
  • Learn to accept difficult thoughts and feelings
  • Take committed action toward valued goals

"The Mental Health Program at Next Chapter Recovery has been transformative for me. After years of struggling with anxiety and depression, I finally found a team that truly listened and provided practical tools that work in real life. The combination of individual therapy and group support gave me both personalized attention and the comfort of knowing I wasn't alone."

Program Participant

"When I started the program, I was skeptical about whether therapy could really help with my PTSD symptoms. The EMDR sessions were unlike anything I'd tried before, and while they weren't always easy, they helped me process traumatic memories in a way that made them less overwhelming. For the first time in years, I feel like I'm moving forward instead of being stuck in the past."

Michael T.
Program Participant

"As someone dealing with both bipolar disorder and substance use issues, I needed a program that could address both challenges. The integrated approach at Next Chapter Recovery meant that I didn't have to choose between mental health support and addiction recovery\u2014they understood how these issues are connected and treated me as a whole person, not just a collection of symptoms."

Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about our Mental Health Program.

Do I need a referral to join the Mental Health Program?

No, you do not need a referral to access our Mental Health Program. You can contact us directly to schedule an initial assessment. However, if you are working with other healthcare providers, a referral can be helpful for coordinating your care. With your permission, we can communicate with your other providers to ensure comprehensive support.

Is the Mental Health Program covered by insurance?

Many of our mental health services are covered by provincial health insurance and extended benefits plans. The coverage varies depending on your specific insurance provider and plan. During your initial consultation, our intake coordinator can help you understand your coverage options and any potential out-of-pocket costs. We also offer sliding scale fees and payment plans for those without adequate insurance coverage.

How long will I need to participate in the program?

The duration of participation varies based on individual needs, goals, and progress. Our structured intensive program typically runs for 8-12 weeks, but many clients transition to less intensive support afterward. Some individuals benefit from shorter-term interventions focused on specific issues, while others may need longer-term support for complex or chronic conditions. Your treatment plan will be regularly reviewed and adjusted based on your progress and changing needs.

Can I participate in the Mental Health Program if I'm also in recovery from substance use?

Yes, we specialize in supporting individuals with co-occurring disorders (both mental health and substance use challenges). Our integrated approach addresses both issues simultaneously, as we recognize how they often influence each other. Many of our therapists have specialized training in both mental health and addiction recovery, allowing for comprehensive care that addresses the full spectrum of your needs.

What if I'm not comfortable with group therapy?

While we find that many clients benefit from the combination of individual and group therapy, we understand that group settings aren't comfortable for everyone, especially initially. We can start with individual therapy only and gradually introduce group components as you feel ready. Some clients choose to remain primarily in individual therapy throughout their program, and we respect these preferences while still encouraging exploration of various therapeutic modalities that might be beneficial.
